Willis Towers Watson is seeking a Senior Risk Control Specialist to be responsible for providing risk and safety consulting services to our Retail & Distribution clients. The Senior Risk Control Specialist will be responsible for guiding the safety and risk management process with our clients by assisting them in building effective safety and risk control programs. The position requires a proven track record in providing specialized services directly related to retail, distribution, and logistics clients. Experience in providing expertise and advice to control exposures and loss trends, ultimately reducing our client’s total cost of risk is required.

The Role

  • Has responsibility for helping the Willis Towers Watson team and the client effectively build a safety and risk management program that reduces the client’s loss trends
  • Assist the client as an advocate in risk identification and implantation of corrective actions to ultimately reduce the client’s total cost of risk
  • Help to develop pre-loss and post-loss consulting strategy through the use of industry information, Willis Towers Watson data analytics, and insurance carrier loss information
  • Lead and develop the execution of safety and risk programs and deliver safety and risk management information to the client’s leadership and management
  • Support new project safety and health initiatives that address specific client needs and exposures
  • Analyze and develop priorities for the client within safety and risk management plans
  • Accountable for client satisfaction and retention through effective advocacy, client focused service and measured successful outcomes
  • Provide immediate and professional feedback to the client regarding safety and risk management goals by providing recommendations and performance evaluations
  • Responsible for client retention and new business sales through effective client service and client focused sales presentations
  • Manage the quality and effectiveness of client project initiation forms, service plans and agreements


The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, technology or a related field is highly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in similar role as casualty, retail, and distribution safety specialist required, i.e., corporate safety director, risk and safety manager, and/or equivalent combination of education and casualty experience
  • CSP and/or ARM designations are preferred
  • Experience related to addressing complex issues and successful strategies for risk reduction, elimination and mitigation
  • Travel expectation of this position is 40%, either by vehicle or by air travel.
  • Knowledge established of casualty, retail, and distribution safety procedures as well as knowledge of federal and state safety rules and regulations including but not limited to OSHA, and DOT
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, legal codes, procedures and processes involving applicable government agencies and insurance companies
  • Understand WTW employee responsibilities to the company, region and the office
  • Understand the value of metrics, advanced data analytics and benchmarking
  • Shall excel in communicating technical information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to analyze and report financial data to internal and external clients
  • Shall possess casualty, retail, and distribution management and leadership skills
  • Ability to organize and formulate strategy for clients based upon assessed knowledge
  • Ability to handle moderate to high complex challenges within the modern marketplace


Leadership/Guidance Information:

  • Can work independently and remotely when needed
  • Receives moderate to minimal supervision
  • Can communicate professionally with all clients and carrier personnel
  • Directly handle many clients – client needs tend to be more sophisticated based on the product and service they provide
  • Participate in strategic sales meetings and large client meetings as required
  • Manage the risk management safety process with internal and external clients and provide the appropriate level of resources for our clients
